2023 Round 7 - Brands Hatch (GP)

Monday 11th September 2023

Round 7 of the Ginetta Junior Championship was held at Brands Hatch on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th September.

This proved to be another positive weekend for Alisha, with the weather, in contrast to the previous round, absolutely glorious.

SATURDAY 9th SEPTEMBER:

Qualifying:

Race 1 = P3

Race 2 = P3

Race 1: P3 - P3

Alisha got a good start in the first race to maintain P3 and the front three were able to pull a gap on the rest of the field. This was closed down however when a safety car was deployed around 3/4 distance. The front three were then able to build a gap upon the restart. However, due the car in front beginning to defend, this allowed the pack behind Alisha to close in with her then spending the whole of the final lap defending to take P3 and her first podium of the weekend.

SUNDAY 10th SEPTEMBER:

Race 2: P3 - P2

Race 2 saw an excellent start by Alisha to immediately get up along side P2 despite being squeezed against the pit exit barrier / wall. She was then able to follow the leader closely to build a gap over the rest of the field and had an attempt at the lead but wasn't quite able to pull it off. A subsequent safety car then saw this gap closed. Upon the re-start Alisha was able to build a gap with the leader over the rest of the field and despite crossing the line only 2 tenths behind, the gap to P3 behind was over 8.6 seconds. This was Alisha's second podium finish of the weekend.

Race 3: P2 - P2

As a result of finishing Race 2 in P2, this is where Alisha started Race 3. A solid start from Alisha saw her fend off P3 behind and settle into her starting position of P2. As the race progressed the front two were able to build a lead with Alisha pushing as hard as possible to clinch P1. However, as in the other races a safety car was deployed which again closed the gap. On the re-start the front two again immediately began to build a lead with Alisha trying everything to pass for P1 but was unable to and crossed the line just 1 tenth of a second behind. This secured Alisha's third podium of the weekend.
