2023 Round 2 - Silverstone (GP)

Tuesday 9th May 2023

Round 2 of the Ginetta Junior Championship took place at Silverstone (GP) on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th May, during the weekend of the King's Coronation.

A positive weekend overall with 2 podium finishes.

SATURDAY 6th APRIL:

Qualifying:

Race 1 = P2

Race 2 = P2

Race 1: P2 - P2

The first race of the weekend began under very wet conditions that continued to worsen as the race progressed. Alisha got off to a great start by taking the lead into turn one and leading the field before loosing the lead later in the lap and dropping to second. A subsequent safety car was then called due to a first lap incident further down the field. Green flags were then briefly waved allowing Alisha to follow in the wake of the lead car before a further saftey car was called for another incident behind. Due to the increasing rain and standing water the race was ended early under the safety car.

SUNDAY 7th APRIL:

Race 2: P2 - P5

Alisha went on to have another strong start and led into the first turn. However, the track still had damp patches in places and as she led up towards turns two & three she hit a damp patch which caused the car to run slightly wide onto a wet kerb, spinning the car in the process. Multiple other cars also spun in the same area. This dropped Alisha down towards the back of the grid but she raced hard and was able to climb back up the order to eventually finish a very respectable 5th.

Race 3: P5 - P3

It was difficult for Alisha to make up any places off the line as she was boxed in on the outside but managed to initially hold position before a very frantic race unravelled. All drivers were going up and down the order from bend to bend, with Alisha dropping as low as 7th at one point, but determination and timing saw Alisha make one of the overtakes of the day to move up from 6th to 3rd position in one move before breaking the all important tow behind to go on to secure her second podium of the weekend.
