Wednesday 5th January 2022:
As part of Alisha working with Chequered Flag Motorsport, we are extremely proud to announce that she has been aligned as a young sporting Ambassador for Support Dogs (registered charity number 1088281).
For those that may not be aware, Support Dogs is a national charity dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for people with various medical conditions. They provide, train and support specialist assistance dogs to achieve this.
Support Dogs specialise in three specific programmes:
Autism assistance dogs for children with autism. The dogs are trained to provide safety for the child and reduce stress in social environments.
Seizure alert dogs for people with epilepsy. The dogs are trained to provide a 100% reliable, up to 50 minute warning prior to the onset of an epileptic seizure. This enables the client to find safety and be in control over their seizure, allowing a much more independent life.
Disability assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities. The client’s own pet dog is trained to perform tasks which are specifically tailored to their individual needs, providing them with greater independence and safety.
Established in 1992, Support Dogs works across England, Scotland and Wales and provides all it's services entirely free of charge to those in need of them. However the charity relies solely on voluntary donations and receives no government funding. Support Dogs are proud that 1 in 4 of the dogs they train come to them from rescue centres or as unwanted pets. As part of this, Alisha will be working with Support Dogs supporting them to raise money for this very worthwhile charity through various motorsport themed events, activities and promotions. This is an extremely humbling announcement to make for Alisha that she is able to use her growing platform in motorsport to help provide support to such a worthy cause that makes such a difference to the lives of the individuals that benefit directly from Support Dogs. This is even more special and a natural fit as Alisha is a huge dog lover and has her own pet Shih Tzu, Pip.
